The pastoralists and marginalized often are not represented in the policy making and its implementation; and these very policies adversely impact their lives. Thus, MARAG efforts have been to take initiatives to make their voices heard and acknowledged.
We firmly believe in a decentralized, transparent, accountable, participatory decision making which is responsive to the needs of the marginalized and poor.
MARAG has facilitated a strong movement at the grassroots by building capacities of the pastoralists and other actors. In last two years MARAG supported a campaign to use of the powerful Right to Information tool, specifically, to secure land rights and for policy advocacy. People's institutions promoted by MARAG have developed a cadre of youth, women and children who now volunteer for promoting and securing rights of pastoralists and other actors.
