Event Description :
The Pastoralist Knowledge Hub (Hub) is a consultative platform to enhance the capacity of the pastoralists and their organizations, strengthen their networks and as a result influence policy. The Hub, in its first phase, is supporting the organization of 7 regional workshops. The first regional workshop was organized in South Asia by MARAG during 9-11 March 2015 at Gopnaad, Gujarat in India. The Hub is supported by FAO.
Overall 35 Pastoralist representatives participated in the meeting from 5 countries in South Asia –
- Afghanistan (2 Participant)
- Bangladesh (1 Participant)
- India (27 Participant)
- Nepal (4 Participant)
- Sri Lanka (1 Participant)
The main outcome of the meeting was creation of a South Asian Pastoralist Alliance (SAPA) and agreement on strengthening the alliance through the 8 sub-regional chapters in South Asia.
